Macaulay Culkin is no heroin addict, according to his rep, no matter how loud a tabloid headline screams that rumor.

A report that Culkin is addicted to heroin and more “is not only categorically without merit, but it is also impossibly and ridiculously fictitious,” his publicist told various outlets Wednesday, reacting to a National Enquirer cover story that loudly predicts the”Home Alone” actor’s death within six months.

“We beseech the responsible media to consider the source and its reputation and to please not perpetuate this destructive and insulting story by pursuing it any further.”

The Enquirer is standing by its account, which describes the former child star, 31, as being in a “downward spiral” since splitting with Mila Kunis in early 2011 and blowing thousands a month on various drugs, including oxycodone, Percocet and Vicodin.

“We believe that the former child star should be doing everything he can to get the treatment he so desperately needs,” the mag said in a dramatic statement Thursday, referring to its “accurate and detailed account.”

“[W]e are ready to offer him the opportunity to take a blood test administered by an independent medical lab,” said the mag, which incidentally would get a pretty nice story if such a test were to be conducted.

There was no response from Culkin’s rep to a Ministry request for comment on the Enquirer’s statement.

Culkin’s thin frame and raggedy demeanor also drew speculation in February, prompting the actor’s rep at that time to declare him “in perfectly good health” and, in wording similar to Wednesday’s statement, to ask the media not to pursue it further.
