Morgan Freeman on helium: Just as freaky as it sounds

Share

It’s Morgan Freeman like you’ve never heard him: on helium.

Gone is the resonant, calming baritone we’ve come to rely on as a sign that all is right with the world -- at least in the world of motion pictures and television. Instead, in one short clip, we get that annoying squeak attainable most often by sucking on a child’s party balloon.

A bit disconcerting, you say? We have to agree. The way his voice morphs back to normal is freaky too.

The promo is for Science Channel’s series “Through the Wormhole,” which is hosted by Freeman and begins its fifth season on June 4.

Of course the man with the voice of God would host a show that asks “questions that have puzzled mankind for eternity.”

As always, don’t try this at home, kids, because as the National Inhalant Prevention Coalition says, “Inhaling helium sounds like fun until someone dies.”

Yes, they really say that.

But if you do find yourself into this sort of thing vicariously, maybe check out Beyonce on helium, Lionel Richie on helium or Selena Gomez and Jimmy Fallon on helium.

Actually, Fallon sounds pretty much the same.
