It’s time to celebrate Prince George’s birthday!

The third in line to the British throne, born July 22, 2013, is being feted with much fanfare and with what royal watchers want most: more pictures of the adorable little prince.

The royals obliged by releasing three photos taken by John Stillwell to mark the rambunctious prince’s first birthday.

“We would like to take this opportunity on George’s first birthday to thank everyone over the last year, wherever we have met them, both at home and overseas, for their warm and generous good wishes to George and our family,” the Cambridges said in a joint statement upon releasing the second and third photos Monday.

On Saturday, the monarchy released the first image. It shows the little royal in a navy blue polo and striped overall shorts walking during a July 2 visit to the Sensational Butterflies exhibition at the Natural History Museum, which counts his mother, Catherine, the Duchess of Cambridge, as a patron.

The monarchy posted the first snapshot on its official Facebook page and Twitter account, captioning it with: “Look who’s walking! Here’s our little Prince ahead of his 1st birthday on Tuesday 22nd July, pictured in the first of a series of three photographs to be released by Kensington Palace to celebrate the occasion. #HappyBirthdayPrinceGeorge.”

The other candid shots show the prince with his parents. In one, Kate is carrying him as he’s reaching for a flying butterfly, with Wills looking on. In the other, the duke holds a butterfly on his hand and George, seated on Catherine’s lap, reaches to touch it.

It’s been quite the year for Prince William and Catherine’s little man. The first-time parents have given the public quite a bit of access to George with tidbits uttered at their public appearances and official images released throughout George’s first year.

Aside from the first snapshots taken of them outside the Lindo Wing of St. Mary’s Hospital in London in July, the couple released two unofficial family portraits taken by Kate’s dad, Michael Middleton, in August. Then came the christening photos, official and unofficial, in September, when the world was introduced to the little guy’s exceedingly squishy cheeks.

In March, the Cambridges released a snapshot of George and his family peeking out of their Kensington Palace apartment with the little prince gazing at the royal family’s dog, Lupo. That snapshot came out ahead of the family’s April tour of New Zealand and Australia.

That trip Down Under brought the world even more snapshots of the tot, who was seen bundled up by his mom as they arrived in Wellington, going on a play date at New Zealand’s Government House and later visiting the Taronga Zoo in Sydney.

In June, the wispy-haired little guy was photographed during his dad’s Father’s Day charity polo match, walking with the help of the duchess.

As for the real birthday celebration, the occasion will be marked with a private tea party in Kensington Palace, according to Vanity Fair. Buckingham Palace also launched an exhibit called Royal Childhood, which features toys, clothes and belongings from 250 years’ worth of royal offspring.

Legoland Windsor also got in on the reveling, hosting its own 1st birthday party for the tot by erecting a Lego-made tea party on Monday, complete with a cake, gifts and guests. The theme park also celebrated the wedding of George’s parents in 2011 by re-creating the momentous event with the colorful building blocks.

On Monday, Clarence House announced the duchess’ first official solo trip overseas: Kate will be visiting Malta on behalf of the queen Sept. 20-21, marking the island nation’s 50th anniversary of its independence.
