Savannah Guthrie has a new baby girl with the ‘chubbiest cheeks’

Savannah Guthrie and Mike Feldman have a new baby girl, born early Wednesday.

The new parents broke the news Thursday morning with a little help from Guthrie’s fellow “Today” show hosts, including Matt Lauer, who revealed that little Vale Guthrie Feldman clocked in at 8 pounds, 5 ounces, and 19.5 inches long.

“Michael send around an email saying most of those 8 pounds, 5 ounces are in the cheeks,” Lauer said.

Guthrie was right there with a couple of early morning tweets as well.

“My 3am wake up call sounds a lot different now. Sweeter...,” she wrote, adding later, “Every new parent must want to shout their happy news to the world. So lucky we got to do it on @TODAYshow! We are bursting with joy. #Vale.”

The baby earned that name — an old English word meaning “valley by a stream” — because she was “so calm and serene,” Lauer said. Of course, a few hours later, he heard the tot fussing in the background when he chatted with his pal on the phone. Babies, go figure.

Guthrie had described her new one to him as having blue eyes, a bit of blond hair and the “chubbiest cheeks you’ve ever seen.” (A picture she posted on Twitter seemed to back up most of that story.)

The timing was fairly excellent: Guthrie’s last work day before starting maternity leave was Monday, when co-workers threw her a baby shower on the morning show.

Feldman, a communications strategist, married Guthrie in March, and the couple announced during the celebration that they were expecting their first child. The mom-to-be was four months pregnant at the time.

“It’s funny, ‘cause we set the wedding date, I bought my dress, and then I found out,” she told “Today” at the time. “So I’ve been doing a little praying that I would fit in it, and it all worked out.”

Yes it did!
