Johansson, Aguilera sound off; email hacker gets 10-year sentence

Bringing the world naked pictures of Scarlett Johansson and others has brought a 10-year federal prison sentence down on 35-year-old Christopher Chaney. And ScarJo still thinks that what Chaney did was “perverted and reprehensible.”

“I have been truly humiliated and embarrassed,” Johansson said in a video statement played at Monday’s sentencing, L.A. Now reported. “I find Christopher Chaney’s actions to be perverted and reprehensible.”

The photos of the actress that went public in September 2011 were obtained via then-husband Ryan Reynolds’ email account, which Chaney accessed by using the “Forgot your password?” feature and correctly answering questions through publicly available information. Johansson enlisted the FBI’s help in what came to be known as “Operation Hackerazzi.”

Christina Aguilera — whose scantily clad image was obtained through her stylist’s email account — also had words for the court, saying in a statement, “That feeling of security can never be given back and there is no compensation that can restore the feeling one has from such a large invasion of privacy.”

Appearing in person in court was actress Renee Olstead from ABC Family’s “The Secret Life of the American Teenager,” who said she contemplated killing herself after nude photos of her were released, L.A. Now reported.

“I just really hope this doesn’t happen to someone else,” Olstead said, sobbing. “You can lose everything because of the actions of a stranger.”

The guilty pleas were on charges including identity theft, wiretapping and unauthorized access and damage to a protected computer, TMZ reported back in March, when the plea deal was struck.

Chaney accessed about 50 email accounts without permission and then forwarded his spoils to another hacker and a couple of celebrity websites that made the private info public.
