Shia LaBeouf brown-bags it at Berlin film festival

Remember, Shia LaBeouf is not famous anymore. And he’s not about to let you forget it.

The “Nymphomaniac” actor continued his sprint out of the spotlight by doing spotlight-grabbing things Sunday, including walking out of a media conference after answering only one question and, yes, wearing a brown bag on his head on the premiere red carpet at the Berlin International Film Festival.

“When the seagulls follow the trawler, it’s because they think sardines will be thrown into the sea. Thank you very much,” LaBeouf told assembled journalists, according to the Hollywood Reporter, after being asked a question regarding what it was like to be in a movie with so much sex. He then bailed.

(The quote was lifted from a 1995 statement issued by French soccer star Eric Cantona, after he was convicted of assault, THR said, noting that Cantona also stormed out of that media conference.)

But back to that red carpet look: It was a custom brown bag, mind you, with little eye-holes cut out and the phrase “I AM NOT FAMOUS ANYMORE” written in bold black where his face would go. And he did pair it with a tux. Hardly anything odd going on there, right?

“I AM NOT FAMOUS ANYMORE” is the only thing LaBeouf has tweeted — about two dozen times — since mid-January after he found himself embroiled in a plagiarism controversy regarding his short film “HowardCantour.com.” On Jan. 10 he announced he was “retiring from all public life.”

At least it wasn’t a plastic bag. That would have been scandalous.
