Simon Cowell is latest celeb victim of a fake 911 distress call

Share

Simon Cowell was the victim of a false 911 call early Sunday afternoon, Beverly Hills police said Monday.

The caller told authorities that “The X Factor” judge was tied up with duct tape, according to L.A. Now. A first address given was outside city limits, but then the caller said it was “Simon Cowell’s house,” which is in Beverly Hills.

Unlike in previous “swatting” incidents in which authorities were summoned falsely to celeb spreads — including those of Miley Cyrus, Ashton Kutcher and Justin Bieber — Cowell was home at the time, TMZ said.

“Officers responded to the Cowell residence and contacted Mr. Cowell and confirmed that the call was a false report of an emergency,” the Beverly Hills Police Department said in a statement to L.A. Now.

No wonder Cowell was a little touchy when he responded Monday to a recent comment by Martin Gore, lead singer of Depeche Mode, who said that “somebody should shoot” the British music impresario.

“I read Martin gore wants to shoot me,” Cowell tweeted. “He was is in depeche mode. Do you realise how weird and stupid that makes you. Go and watch the news.”
