Solange Knowles says tantalizingly little about elevator fight

Share

Solange Knowles has finally spoken out on her own regarding the notorious May elevator incident that saw her swinging and kicking at brother-in-law Jay Z the night of the formal Met Gala.

Now, she didn’t say much about it, but technically she did address the situation in her new interview with Lucky.

“What’s important is that my family and I are all good, she told the magazine. “What we had to say collectively was in the statement that we put out, and we all feel at peace with that.”

Ugh. Where’s the fun in that, Solange? The group statement was boring and evenhanded! We wanted to know whyyyyyyyyyyyy ...

The statement, issued to the Associated Press, sought to tamp down speculation about the altercation, which was captured on grainy, black-and-white hotel surveillance video that was leaked to and released by TMZ. (The leaker was promptly ferreted out and fired by the Standard, incidentally -- not exactly a resume-builder.)

In the video, Solange lashed out at Jay Z while sister Beyonce looked on and at one point delicately pulled the skirt of her gown out of the fray. OK, Queen B stepped between the two at one point, but the gown-adjusting was the more memorable move.

“Jay and Solange each assume their share of responsibility for what has occurred,” the statement said. “They both acknowledge their role in this private matter that has played out in the public. They both have apologized to each other and we have moved forward as a united family.”

Sigh. Our kingdom for a tidbit of “why.”
