Alex Trebek Burglary Suspect is a Prostitute, Attorney Says
56-year-old Lucinda Moyers.
According to the San Francisco Examiner, Attorney Mark Jacobs contends that Lucinda Moyers was at the Marriott Marquis hotel on July 26 to meet a client and never entered Trebek's room.
The 56-year old Moyers is accused of stealing cash and a bracelet from the "Jeopardy" host's room.
She has pleaded not guilty.
Moyers has two previous burglary convictions on her record making her eligible for life in prison under the state's 3 strikes law.
"I'm facing a life sentence," she told the San Francisco Chronicle. "I'm never going to see life again outside if I'm found guilty."
Moyers claims Trebek approached her at the hotel to ask if she was in his room.
She says she ran out of fear and not out of guilt.
"Ms. Moyers didn't have any stolen property in her possession when she was arrested," Jacobs told The Examiner.
Trebek, 71, was in town to host the 2011 National Geographic World Championship at Google's headquarters in Mountain View.
