TULSA, Ok -- Tyler Lambert, the 25-year-old son of "Diff'rent Strokes" star Dana Plato has committed suicide, nearly 11 years to the day of the suicide of his mother, reports PopEater.
Dana Plato died of a drug overdose from prescription pills on May 8, 1999, at the age of 36.
Office of the Chief Medical Examiner says that Lambert was found dead May 6, from a self-inflicted shotgun wound to the head.
Toxicology results are pending.
Lambert's grandmother Joni Richardson reportedly told the Enquirer that Lambert "wanted to be with his mother. His father Lanny is devastated."
Lanny Lambert and Dana Plato divorced in 1990 after six years of marriage.
The "Diff'rent Strokes" cast has been plagued with troubles, as star Todd Bridges fought drug addiction, though now he is clean and sober and tours the country speaking about the dangers of drug use.
has had well-publiczed money problems and also gained national attention when he punched a woman while working as a security guard at a mall.
