Marvel Studios has been alluding to an "Avengers" film since "Iron Man" came out in 2008. Now several summer movies later, the team of superheroes is poised to assemble May 4, 2012, in a movie directed by "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" creator Joss Whedon. The movie unites several stars who have dominated the big screen in recent years, including Robert Downey Jr. as Iron Man, Chris Evans as Captain America, Chris Hemsworth as Thor and Scarlett Johansson as Black Widow. Mark Ruffalo will take the mantle as the new Bruce Banner/Hulk, and the film also promises a look at several heroes slated to get their own blockbusters, including Jeremy Renner as Hawkeye and Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury.
