TV ratings: ‘Celebrity Wife Swap’ season opens low; ‘SHIELD’ up

Share

ABC’s “Celebrity Wife Swap” probably wishes it could trade in the ratings for its third season premiere.

According to early numbers from Nielsen, the Tuesday 10 p.m. reality show earned a rating of 1.0 among key 18- to- 49-year-olds and 3.1 million viewers overall for the episode that featured a spouse-switch between Daniel Baldwin and Jermaine Jackson.

In the advertiser-coveted demographic, it was down by more than half from last year’s season opener (which aired at 8 p.m.) for the lowest “Wife Swap” or “Celebrity Wife Swap” premiere rating ever.

The better news for ABC came from “Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” airing at 9 p.m. this time instead of its usual 8 p.m. time-slot and gaining a tenth of a point from last week for a 2.0 in 18-49. That matches its rating from two weeks ago and the comic book series also tends to rise slightly in the final figures.

NBC’s new “Voice”-backed comedies fared well. “About a Boy” rose 12% week-to-week to a 1.9 in 18-49 and “Growing Up Fisher” increased its rating 7% to a 1.6. “Chicago Fire” slipped slightly to a 1.7.

“The Voice” itself was again the highest-rated show in the key demo with a 2.9, the same as last week. For the night, NBC had a slight edge over CBS in 18-49 (2.1 vs. 2.0), though CBS had more viewers overall (14 million vs. 8.4 million).

CBS’ “NCIS,” Tuesday’s most-watched program, fell 19% week-to-week to a 2.1, the same rating brought in by its 9 p.m. offshoot “NCIS: Los Angeles.” “Person of Interest” fell 11% to a 1.7.

Fox’s Tuesday lineup continued to struggle as “Glee” remained at a 1.0, “New Girl” returned after a two-week break for a 1.1 and “Mindy Project” fell 9% week-to-week to a 1.0.
