TV ratings: Fox’s ‘Hell’s Kitchen’ and NBC’s ‘Community’ hit lows
ABC and CBS virtually tied in the key 18- to 49-year-old demographic Thursday night, according to early numbers from Nielsen.
Fox’s “Hell’s Kitchen,” the Gordon Ramsay chef show, fell 18% to a 1.4 in 18-49, its lowest number yet for a regularly scheduled episode. After that, the “American Idol” results show that revealed the top seven contestants garnered a 1.7, flat with last week’s lowest-ever. The new comedy “Surviving Jack” was also flat, at a 1.2.
Meanwhile, it was not a good night for Greendale Community College; Pawnee, Ind.; or the Braverman family on NBC, as “Community,” “Parks & Recreation” and “Parenthood” hit or tied their series lows.

“Community” slipped to a low of 0.8 in 18-49, in which a point equals about 1.3 million viewers. The 8:30 p.m. Amy Poehler-starring comedy “Parks & Recreation” was also down slightly week-to-week, notching a 1.0 to tie its lowest ever, after which “Parenthood” took a 1.1.
With help from a strong second-to-last “Scandal” episode of the season, ABC scored a 2.4 rating in 18-49. CBS, driven partly by “Big Bang Theory,” also earned a 2.4, though CBS averaged 1.8 million more viewers than ABC overall.
“Scandal,” which has posted impressive numbers all season, grew 3% from last week to a 3.0 in 18-49. “Grey’s Anatomy” pulled a 2.5, down 7% week-to-week, and a “Shark Tank” special drew a 1.6.
CBS’ lineup was little-changed from last Thursday as the night’s highest-rated show “Big Bang Theory,” “The Millers” and “Two and a Half Men” declined slightly, though “The Crazy Ones” was flat and “Elementary” saw a 13% lift to a 1.7.
CW had no new “Vampire Diaries,” and without the fantasy lead-in, “Reign” fell 33% from its last original episode to a 0.4 in 18-49.
