Carrie Underwood falls onstage, follows up with jokes on Twitter

Share

Carrie Underwood fell right on her bottom onstage during a concert in Corpus Christi, Texas, on Thursday.

The “American Idol” alum was performing for her “Blown Away” tour when she tumbled away in front of a packed American Bank Center Arena. While she was belting out one foot-stomping song, the songstress got a bit overzealous and her sky-high heel caught on the back of her long, flowy T-shirt. That move forced her to plunge to the ground and bounce onto her derriere.

But the six-time Grammy winner handled the spill like a pro, finished singing as she was seated and even took to Twitter to acknowledge her foible.

“Hey, remember that time in Corpus Christi when that girl busted her butt on stage?! Hilarious!” she wrote, “Oh wait, that was me! #5inchheels #klutz”

But the situation turned out to have a lasting effect.

“I can’t move my toes. Is that bad?” she noted.

Hours later, the 30-year-old returned to the micro-blogging site to keep fans informed about her health. (She’s still set to perform at the State Farm Arena in Hidalgo, Texas, on Friday).

“Good news, it’s not broken...AND I got some new footwear!” she wrote, posting a photo of a medical boot enveloping her left foot, with her perfectly manicured toes peeking out.

The singer also bantered with followers after the mishap, which comes days after her husband, NHL’s Mike Fisher, was bitten by a chipmunk at their home.

One fan insisted that Underwood didn’t fall Thursday, but “attacked the floor,” instead. You know, “while wearing five inch heels” because “she’s got mad ninja skills.”

Even country crooner Brad Paisley got in on the action. (He’s co-hosting the CMAs with her on Nov. 6.)

“The graceful, the nimble, the cat-like reflexes of @carrieunderwood,” he teased, sharing a fan video of the flap on Instagram.

Well, Underwood didn’t exactly appreciate that, and fired back with a YouTube video of Paisley falling onstage too.

“@BradPaisley I learn from the best! Brad Paisley Falling https://youtu.be/yyVJjWl5ix8,” she tweeted.

“At least I wasn’t drunk. :)” he said.

To which she replied, “You know I don’t drink on stage! I’m uncoordinated enough as it is!”

But Paisley had to have the last word.

“c’mon Carrie, you’re not fooling anybody. We all love you anyway. :)”

OK, because parenthetical smiley faces make everything better!
