Amal Alamuddin is one piece of paper closer to being Mrs. George Clooney.

The erstwhile Hollywood bachelor and his international human rights lawyer fiancee have obtained their marriage license, according to several reports out Wednesday and Thursday.

The “ER” alum, 53, and the British activist, 36, were outed in London when a notice was publicly posted Wednesday on Chelsea Old Town Hall, announcing that Clooney and Alamuddin would wed, according to Dlisted and People.

The notice, which is legally required of citizens in European Union countries, also said they would wed in Italy, the magazine reported; it has since been taken down.

Rumor has it that the pair, who got engaged in April, will wed on Sept. 20 in Venice, where Clooney reportedly rented “an entire island” for weekend-long festivities, Page Six reported.

The Oscar-winning producer and his bride-to-be have been spending quite a bit of time in the sinking city as well as at his storied Lake Como home in Italy.

Meanwhile, a team from Giorgio Armani’s Milan office reportedly flew out to the home to start fitting Clooney and his groomsmen for the wedding, WWD said. Clooney usually wears the designer on the red carpet and can be seen sitting in the front row at Armani fashion shows. The trade paper said Alamuddin was considering a gown by Oscar de la Renta.

“The Monuments Men” star, who was embroiled in a spat with British tabloid the Daily Mail over a false story about his fiancee’s family, recently quipped about his upcoming second union.

“I’m marrying up,” he told Variety.
