Justin Bieber leads Forbes’ list of highest-paid celebs under 30

If it hasn’t been enough of a Monday for you, chew on this: Justin Bieber was reportedly the highest-paid entertainer younger than 30 in the past year, taking in about $80 million.

He’s also the youngest on Forbes’ list of the top-earning celebs under 30, so put that in your turkey and stuff it.

Forbes kindly put out its list just in time for people older than 30 to have something new to grumble about over Thanksgiving dinner. It’s possible there are cans of Ocean Spray cranberry sauce that are older than Bieber, who’ll finally hit 21 in March.

British boy band One Direction came in second, taking in $75 million from June 2013 to June 2014, though that has to be split among Harry Styles, Zayn Malik, Louis Tomlinson, Niall Horan and Liam Payne. Tomlinson, the oldest of the five, turns 23 on Christmas Eve. Styles, the youngest in 1D, is a mere month older than Bieber.

Taylor Swift, 24, leads the ladies on the list with an estimated $64-million take. Sensing a theme here? Nine people on the 10-name list, compiled from the magazine’s Celebrity 100 research, are musicians. Bieber was No. 33 on the larger ranking.

The lone thespian in the group? Jennifer Lawrence, 24, slouching in at seventh place with a measly $34 million.

Not in order, Lady Gaga and Bruno Mars are the elder statesmen of the bunch at 28 and 29, respectively, and Rihanna, Miley Cyrus, Skrillex and Avicii round out the list.

In compiling its list, Forbes does not deduct for taxes, management fees or the other costs of being a celebrity — which in Bieber’s case will, next year, include the nearly $81,000 he was ordered to pay to his former neighbors for damage done when he egged their house.

That sounds like it falls into the category of an under-30 expense.
