AFI Fest: Panelists announced for Times’ Young Hollywood roundtable

Five of the brightest up-and-comers in the movie business will come together at AFI Fest next month for the Times’ fourth annual Young Hollywood roundtable.

Dane DeHaan, 27, Greta Gerwig, 30, Michael B. Jordan, 26, Brie Larson, 24, and Miles Teller, 26, will sit for a conversation with reporter Amy Kaufman on Nov. 8 about their acting careers.

Each has gained notice this year for a head-turning performance. DeHaan has appeared in three films in 2013, most recently playing Allen Ginsberg’s love interest Lucien Carr in “Kill Your Darlings.” Next summer, he’ll play Harry Osborn in the highly anticipated “The Amazing Spider-Man 2.”

Gerwig, meanwhile, earned rave reviews for her turn as a disenchanted twentysomething in May’s “Frances Ha,” which she co-wrote with director Noah Baumbach. And Jordan is currently generating awards buzz for his performance as the late Oscar Grant in the art-house darling “Fruitvale Station.”

He and Teller will appear with Zac Efron in the bromantic comedy “That Awkward Moment,” out in January. Teller has a big 2014 ahead of him with a role in adaptation of the young adult novel “Divergent,” though his energy as of late has been spent promoting the indie romance “The Spectacular Now.” Larson plays his popular ex-girlfriend in the latter picture, but has been garnering even more attention for her performance as an instructor at a foster care facility in “Short Term 12.”
