'Zero Dark Thirty'

The obvious comparison would be to 2010's winning "The Hurt Locker," from writer to director to the scorched-earth suffering in its plot. Taking it to an even darker realm, we could also go with "The Silence of the Lambs" from 1991. Each movie centers on a strong-yet-vulnerable female lead, hunting down her foe with unearthly determination.
