Wes Anderson’s ‘The Grand Budapest Hotel’ gets first trailer

A busy week for Wes Anderson watchers has been capped off by the arrival of the trailer for his upcoming “The Grand Budapest Hotel,” which opens March 7, 2014.

The film has a typically large and outstanding cast that mixes together Anderson regulars with new faces. The cast includes Ralph Fiennes, Bill Murray, Jason Schwartzman, Tilda Swinton, Owen Wilson, Edward Norton, Willem Dafoe, Léa Seydoux, Mathieu Amalric, Saoirse Ronan, F. Murray Abraham and Jude Law.

The film’s poster also announces “and introduing” Tony Revolori. Given Anderson’s discovery of the fresh talents Jared Gilman and Kara Hayward for his previous film, “Moonrise Kingdom,” Revolori may be one to watch.

Astute readers of credits will note that Anderson shares story credit on the film with the artist Hugo Guinness, who previously provided a voice in Anderson’s animated “Fantastic Mr. Fox.”

And those who can’t wait until March for more Anderson-alia, there is the recently released book “The Wes Anderson Collection.” An overview of his career up to this point, it includes an extended interview between the filmmaker and the book’s author, critic Matt Zoller Seitz.

In an interview last year, Anderson mentioned films such as “The Shop Around the Corner,” “To Be Or Not To Be” and “Love Me Tonight” as an influence on the style of “Budapest Hotel,” which he described as “Hollywood Europe.”

And though one never really needs an excuse to induldge in enjoying a bit of Maurice Chevalier, here is a clip from 1932’s “Love Me Tonight,” directed by Rouben Mamoulian, featuring the song “Isn’t it Romantic.”
