Seymour out of Kodak’s ‘Carol’

Jane Seymour will not be in “A Christmas Carol” when the play opens at the Kodak Theatre in Hollywood tonight. The actress, perhaps remembered best as the star of the TV series “Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman,” had to bow out of the Charles Dickens holiday favorite “after contracting a severe bronchial infection,” the show’s publicist said.

“She felt that she wouldn’t be able to perform to the best of her abilities and be able to give the audiences 100% while suffering this illness,” according to the statement.

And there won’t be a “special appearance” from Gene Wilder, either. The statement said the actor “was to have appeared as a special effect using a hologram; the producers decided that it would not be effective in the production.”

Understudy Jane Noseworthy will take over for Seymour, appearing with John Goodman, Christopher Lloyd and Jane Leeves through Jan. 4.
