‘Game of Thrones’ may be on a break, but the fan videos proliferate

“Game of Thrones” may be gone until 2015, but the gap in our hearts is being readily filled by the wealth of “Game of Thrones” parody videos online.

Two of the best in the last few days come from Wil Wheaton and Funny or Die.

On Wheaton’s Syfy series “The Wil Wheaton Project,” the actor and blogger introduced a reconceived version of the opening credits to “Game of Thrones” that instead of focusing on the geography of Westeros and Essos, better explained the various personal connections of the characters.

To help things tremendously, they also added a nifty “Brady Bunch”-style theme song. So no one should ever have trouble telling a Stark from a Lannister ever again.

Meanwhile, the Funny or Die series “Gay of Thrones” saved a whopper of a twist for its own season finale episode.

Normally Jonathan Van Ness plays a hairdresser giving a rundown of that week’s episode. But as the finale came to a close, we got a “Princess Bride”-like twist, in which we learned that the entirety of “Gay of Thrones” was just a bedtime story being read by “Game of Thrones” author George R.R. Martin to his grandson.

As a bonus, we’re treated to a little Martin-narrated “Gay of Thrones.” It may not be “The Winds of Winter,” but it’ll have to do for now.
