‘Here Comes Honey Boo Boo’ ends the season with show of love

The season finale of “Here Comes Honey Boo Boo” is fast approaching and wedding bells are finally in the air. Or would they be air horns? It’s a commitment ceremony, after all.

Either way, the long-awaited ceremony between Honey Boo Boo’s parents, “Mama June” Shannon and Mike “Sugar Bear” Thompson, is finally here. And little Alana, Honey Boo Boo herself, is the flower girl.

Although the bride may be wearing camouflage and the theme of the ceremony is more redneck than traditional, the sentiment appears genuine and shows that this family can be about more than eating unhealthy amounts of pork and other disgusting behaviors.

If nothing else, the beauty of the commitment ceremony will go a long way to erase the ghastly mental images stirred up by last week’s episode, in which Mama June talked about the -- ahem -- bathroom troubles she was encountering that were brought on by the stress of the upcoming ceremony.

In terms of America’s fascination with Southern families, “Duck Dynasty” has surpassed the “Honey Boo Boo” clan in terms of audience size, but the second season of the TLC series has been consistent in the ratings, with the most recent episode, “Stress Poops” grabbing an audience of 1.96 million.
