Three plots intersect in this supernatural thriller about death and the afterlife. First there's George (Matt Damon), a quiet factory worker who can talk to the dead; then Marie (Cecile de France), a French journalist who is looking for answers after a near-death experience; and finally an English mother (Lyndsey Marshal) who loses her son in a car accident. Oscar potential: Clint Eastwood has a proven track record at the Oscars, even if his last film, "Invictus," was snubbed in the best picture and director categories. And although he's jumped genres with "Hereafter," he isn't flying blind. His star, Matt Damon, was a big part of "Invictus" and even received a supporting actor nod for his efforts. Review: Times' critic Kenneth Turan says, "Over the years, Eastwood has very much become a director we expect to deliver the unexpected, and he's done that here." Read the entire review.
