Pedigree 'Blindness' Portuguese Nobel-laureate novelist, playwright and journalist Jose Saramago’s 1995 novel was the basis of this film, which was adapted by Canadian actor and filmmaker Don McKellar and directed by the Oscar-nominated Brazilian director Fernando Meirelles. ' Beverly Hills Chihuahua' The original screenplay was written by sitcom writer Jeffrey Bushell and Analisa LaBianco. This is their first screenplay for the big screen. It was directed by Raja Gosnell, the man behind the “Scooby Doo” movies and the one-time protégé of “ Harry Potter” director Chris Columbus. WINNER: Although we normally champion original film ideas over adaptations, we have to give this round to “Blindness.” A man could be responsible for the greatest “Scooby Doo” movie ever devised, the “Citizen Kane” of mystery-solving mutt movies, but it would still have to take its place behind the Nobel Prize.
