Diaz plays Christina Pagniacci, the owner of a failing football team, in the epic Oliver Stone drama. The movie follows the last games in the season of the Miami Sharks, led by an aging and nearly broken coach, Tony D'Amato (Al Pacino, pictured), and an equally bruised quarterback, Cap Rooney (Dennis Quaid). When young gun Willie Beaman (Jamie Foxx) replaces the injured Rooney and begins winning games, D'Amato's loyalty to his first-string quarterback is tested. Deciding the fate of all these teeth-gnashers is Diaz's Pagniacci, who could easily be the toughest of them all. As the owner, Diaz delivers lines like "No intensity, no victory" and berates Pacino with the quote "Why the hell do you think my father put me in charge, you bullheaded moron?!" The actress earned an ALMA and Blockbuster awards for lead actress and a nomination in the best "hissy fit" category at the 2000 Teen Choice Awards.
