'The Cosby Show' (1984-1992)

Who they are: The Huxtables were an every-family, though they were more on the successful side, with a doctor as dad (Bill Cosby) and a lawyer as mom (Phylicia Rashad). Home life had all the problems of normal, wholesome kids trying to grow up fast and fit in everywhere, while the parents dealt with numerous personalities, age-groups and situations. What the kids like: From small child to young adult, the children (Lisa Bonet, Malcolm-Jamal Warner, Tempestt Bledsoe and Keshia Knight Pulliam) represented every age group in some form. The constant attempts to stay up on trends, hang out with friends, struggle with homework, clash with their parents, have boyfriends/girlfriends and more made the show one of the most relatable and popular ever for kids. What the parents like: While the kids did kid stuff, Cliff (Cosby) and Claire (Rashad) kept busy as a doctor and a lawyer trying to rein in so many different personalities in the household. They had their arguments, but "let the record show" that they almost always resolved them amicably. They also imparted life lessons to the kids, kept kids informed on their history through grandparents and more, gave jazz a more public forum, and mostly did it with a smile.
