"Bridesmaids" is nominated for original screenplay, and actress Melissa McCarthy is up for best supporting actor, but it's rare to see a comedy nominated for best picture. Heading into the awards, many thought "Bridesmaids" had a shot at the top field, but alas, it was not nominated. Did the fact that the academy is comprised of older, white men hurt the films' best picture shot at the Oscars? "Probably -- I think so," said Feig. "I see how that could have hurt us. The academy has a kind of thing that they go for -- it's not always funny movies, and they like spectacle."
