One of the titans of 1970s R&B, Teddy Pendergrass died this week at the age of 59 in his home city of Philadelphia. Paralyzed by a car crash in 1982, the iconic soul singer had been suffering from colon cancer and was dealing with a difficult recovery from surgery.
