'Heist' gone wrong

Universal's plan to release "Tower Heist" on demand just three weeks after its Nov. 4 big-screen debut never made it off the ground. The studio wanted to charge fans in Atlanta and Portland, Ore., $60 for the luxury of watching the Ben Stiller and Eddie Murphy comedy in their own living rooms. But theater owners weren't having it. Multiple chains refused to show the movie at all, and the whole experiment quickly went south. David Lee / Universal Pictures
