Jean Harlow strolls through the Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer studio lot in April 1832. Harlow's beau and future husband, MGM producer Paul Bern, orchestrated the studio's purchase of her contract from Howard Hughes. Bern gave Harlow the news on March 3, 1932, her 21st birthday. Harlow felt much more at home with MGM than with Hughes, and the transition catapulted her career to new heights.
