Henson's son and daughter, Brian and Lisa, ran the Jim Henson Co. after their father's death. In 2000, they sold the business to German media company EM.TV. When EM.TV experienced financial problems and wanted to sell off the company, the Hensons bought it back in 2003. The following year, they sold the rights to the Muppets and the children's series "Bear in the Big Blue House" to the Walt Disney Co. The company had previously aired the last original weekly Muppet series, "Muppets Tonight," on ABC in 1996.
