The writer-director (pictured, left, with producer John Lasseter) who won best animated feature for Wall-E, is in preproduction on Pixars first live-action film, John Carter of Mars. The film, based on the books by Edgar Rice Burroughs, will have a live-action cast surrounded by CG creatures and backdrops. The pulp novels recount the adventures of a Civil War veteran who finds himself transported to the surface of Mars.
