It means the movie had high Oscar hopes but crashed and burned once it entered the derby. Lots of flicks have tripped up at the Oscars dating back to 1929, but what about more modern days? This year Baz Luhrmann’s “ Australia” seemed sure to be recognized for something from the academy, but on nomination morning it came up empty-handed. Here, with the assistance of some very helpful Envelope forum posters (most notably “Hey, Jude!”), we present the Top 10 Oscar bombs of recent years.
