A year ago, "Hills" star Lauren Conrad came out swinging, defending the reality of her reality show. "The show is not fake and this is really my life," she said. But just one month later, she backtracked, telling EW that OK, they reshoot scenes. And then in May, Rolling Stone also noted that locations are selected and cleared -- and the girls show up at producer-arranged jobs -- basically freelance gigs at companies that have approved MTV's presence.
