2009 marked the 40th anniversary of the peace, love and rock festival that featured history-making performances by musical legends such as Jimi Hendrix and Janis Joplin. The entertainment world stopped to remember, offering a lookback courtesy of a newly released director's cut of the original concert film, a few VH1 documentaries and Ang Lee's not-so critically acclaimed film "Taking Woodstock." Still, commemorating the days of purple haze seemed lost this year, leaving us to wonder: Should we stop talking about it? MISS --Lora Victorio, latimes.com FOR THE RECORD: An earlier version of this caption listed Joni Mitchell as a performer at Woodstock. Though she did not attend, she wrote the song "Woodstock" about the festival.
