Jennifer Lawrence and Lorde: A match made in goofball heaven

Heard of “Dumb and Dumber”? Now meet “Awkward and Awkwarder”: Jennifer Lawrence and Lorde, new BFFs.

The likable star of “The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1” said she “totally fanned out” when the “Royals” singer paid a visit to the set during production of the film.

“It was a huge deal,” Lawrence enthused on British radio Monday, appearing with Liam Hemsworth and Josh Hutcherson. “Everybody goes quiet while at the same time tries to be cool.”

FOR THE RECORD

Nov. 12, 9:50 p.m.: A previous version of this post incorrectly identified Liam Hemsworth as his brother, Chris Hemsworth.

The 24-year-old actress “was the most excited person there” and “screaming,” according to her male costars.

“I completely fanned out. ‘Is she here? Is she here? Is she here? She’s here? Cool,’” Lawrence said. “Got a picture with her.”

So the “Mockingjay” ladies -- Lorde curated the soundtrack and contributed a song -- weren’t meeting for the first time on the red carpet in London on Monday, but it was still a first for the 18-year-old, real name Ella Yelich-O’Connor.

“it just occurred to me that i never do red carpets but i am doing it tonight, hopefully i remember how to move my face/walk,” Lorde tweeted Monday ahead of the premiere.

Perhaps Lawrence, veteran of an array of public trips and falls and blurts, had some advice for her on what to do if she forgot how to do the latter? In any case, the two appeared to hit it off famously on the carpet and were later seen sharing a car as they left the after-party.

The Oscar winner, of course, tweeted absolutely nothing before the event. Or after it. Nor did she Facebook or Instagram.

“I will never get Twitter,” Lawrence had declared on “The Radio Breakfast Show With Nick Grimshaw” on Monday. “I’m not very good on phones or technology. I cannot really keep up with email, so the idea of Twitter is so unthinkable to me.

“I don’t really undertstand what it is — it’s like this weird enigma that people talk about. It’s fine, I respect that, but no, I’ll never get a Twitter,” she continued. “If you ever see a Facebook, Instagram or Twitter that says it’s me, it most certainly is not.”

It was, she said, a response that she had “locked and loaded” and delivered in “laser-focused” fashion.

She had it ready, she said, “because the Internet has scorned me so much.”

Fair enough. The third flick in “The Hunger Games” franchise hits theaters Nov. 21.
