The film was shot in Santa Monica and is in black and white. In a news release announcing the project last year, Whedon said the text "is to me a deconstruction of the idea of love, which is ironic, since the entire production is a love letter -- to the text, to the cast, even to the house it's shot in."
In a prescient bit of chest-thumping, the statement added that the film "should be headed for the festival circuit, because it is fancy."
