Like Mugwumps, Gryffindor and Hufflepuff from “Harry Potter” before it, the world may now be divided into those for whom “Hunger Games”-related words such as Katniss, Peeta and Haymitch mean something and those for whom they do not.

The latter trio is seen in the first clip released from the upcoming “The Hunger Games: Catching Fire.” Katniss (Jennifer Lawrence) and Peeta (Josh Hutcherson) get some stern real-talk from their mentor Haymitch (Woody Harrelson) about their actual purpose within the political landscape of their dystopian times.

The clip was released via Facebook and the stars of the film have seemingly taken over the Yahoo!-owned platform of tumblr, with clips, animated .gifs and photos from their promotional blitz flooding the pages on the popular social media site.

Lawrence and Francis Lawrence, the film’s director, also sat for an extended chat with Marissa Mayer, Yahoo! president and chief executive.

Regardless of how you might feel about her new short haircut, it’s hard to deny the exuberance Lawrence shows on the promotional trail. The gold mine of strange faces and off-beat one-liners she brings are in no small part what makes her an ideal star for the social media age.

Lawrence will also be seen in the upcoming “American Hustle,” which reunites her with David O. Russell, who directed her Oscar-winning turn in “Silver Linings Playbook.”
