The Los Angeles Film Festival announced on Tuesday a new partnership with ArcLight Cinemas. The 2016 edition of the festival will run from June 1 to June 9 with its headquarters at the ArcLight Culver City. Festival events will also occur at other ArcLight venues around the city, including the new ArcLight Santa Monica. The festival’s opening and closing nights will be at the ArcLight Hollywood.

“We are so happy to be launching this partnership with ArcLight Cinemas,” said Josh Welsh, president of Film Independent, the nonprofit arts organization that produces the festival. (The Los Angeles Times has been a media sponsor of the event). “The ArcLight Cinemas are known for the highest quality projection and sound that will delight filmmakers and audiences alike. We share a mutual audience of filmmakers and film lovers who revel in unique cinematic experiences.”

In making the move, the festival leaves the Regal LA Live Stadium 14 in downtown Los Angeles, where it had been headquartered since 2010.

The festival also announced some changes in its programming team. Roya Rastegar has been promoted to director of programming and Jennifer Cochis has been brought on full-time as creative director. Elvis Mitchell will continue in his role as Film Independent curator.

“Thanks to the efforts of the programming team this past year, 40% of the feature films in the Festival were directed by women and over 30% were directed by filmmakers of color,” said festival director Stephanie Allain in a statement. “Celebrating the city of Los Angeles is a central part of the Festival’s mission and thanks to our new partnership, we’re delighted to bring our discoveries to an ArcLight near you.”

The call for submissions to the 2016 Los Angeles Film Festival is also now open. Visit www.lafilmfestival.com for submission guidelines and forms.
