New trailer for Coen Brothers’ ‘Inside Llewyn Davis’

CBS Films has released a new trailer for “Inside Llewyn Davis,” the Ethan and Joel Coen story of a struggling folk musician that is due in theaters Dec. 6 following its successful world premiere in May’s Cannes Film Festival.

The movie is set in New York’s Greenwich Village in 1961, just before the arrival of Bob Dylan. Oscar Isaac plays Davis, and the film follows him on a one-week journey that Times film critic Kenneth Turan said “is both haunting and ever so bleakly funny.”

The new trailer makes it clear that the film, as with all the Coen Brothers’ works, has a distinct look and pace. And it’s clear there will be a lot of music, much of it performed by Isaac. The film’s cast includes Carey Mulligan, John Goodman, Garrett Hedlund, Justin Timberlake and Adam Driver.

“Inside Llewyn Davis,” which will likely play at some of the fall film festivals before its domestic release, is the first CBS Films release from the Coen Brothers. The studio is hopeful the film will be a contender for awards.

The Coens’ last film, 2010’s “True Grit,” was nominated for 10 Oscars but went home empty-handed.
