Oscars 2015: ‘Crisis Hotline’ wins best documentary short subject

“Crisis Hotline: Veterans Press 1” won the Oscar for documentary short subject at the 87th Academy Awards on Sunday night.

The film, directed by Ellen Goosenberg Kent and produced by Dana Perry, profiles counselors who work the Veterans Crisis Line, a 24-hour telephone hotline available for veterans dealing with emotional, physical or financial troubles.

“Crisis Hotline” beat out other documentary short subjects “Joanna,” “Our Curse,” “The Reaper (La Parka)” and “White Earth.”

The Academy Awards were held at the Dolby Theatre at Hollywood and Highland and hosted by Neil Patrick Harris. The awards were broadcast live coast to coast on ABC.
