Eastwood, Stiller set for Tribeca stage

The Tribeca Film Festival is getting talky, lining up a number of high-profile film and media personalities for a series of conversations at the confab next month.

Darren Aronofsky will interview Clint Eastwood. Richard Linklater will talk with his “Before Midnight” stars and co-writers, Ethan Hawke and Julie Delpy. Gloria Steinem will ask questions of the filmmakers behind Saudi Arabian pic “Wadjda.” And Jay Roach will gab with his “Meet the Parents” star Ben Stiller.

Also, in a panel that leaves a lot to the imagination, Paul Verhoeven will stand up after the North American premiere of “his” new movie “Tricked” — “a “revolutionary film whose narrative was created by crowd sourcing” — to discuss how he made the masses-inspired feature.

While many of the conversations are being held in conjunction with a premiere — Aronofsky’s talk will come after the world premiere of Richard Schickel’s creative-process doc “Eastwood Directs: The Untold Story”; place your bets on the number of empty-chair jokes at that panel — a number will be unrelated to movies.

Among these are a talk about the future of publishing with industry veterans such as former HarperCollins chief Jane Friedman, in a talk that will be moderated by the New Yorker’s Ken Auletta. Meanwhile, Ellen Page and game creator David Cage will walk about “Beyond: Two Souls,” their new interactive video game (and, incidentally, also the original title of “Before Midnight”).

The 12-day Tribeca Film Festival begins April 17 in New York.
