It's already one of the greatest Olympic events in history. Then it became, fittingly, a great movie with Kurt Russell as the legendary Herb Brooks. Director Gavin O'Connor actually found young men who could skate, which makes the on-ice excitement thrilling and convincing, a rarity in Olympic movies. Plus there's that whole Soviet thing. The movie gets out of the first round and cruises into the medal round, where it beats "Cool Runnings" (don't worry, Sanka & Co. still hang on for a bronze). Then in the gold medal game, the movie edges out "Chariots of Fire" on sheer stand-up-and-cheer power. Plus we can't have an American film lose out to a British one. Final Olympic movie tally: Gold: "Miracle" Silver: "Chariots of Fire" Bronze: "Cool Runnings"
