If there’s anything the late David Mancuso would have wanted you to do on a weekend like this, it would be to go dancing. For some, it may be hard to muster anything like enthusiasm for going out right now, but that’s how darkness wins. Here are some of the best club nights this weekend to try and escape the psychic turmoil of a tumultuous election season.

Daniel Avery, the U.K. techno producer behind the excellent 2013 album “Drone Logic,” just released a stellar volume of the DJ-Kicks mix series with a smattering of original material. He’s used his growing prominence to take an even darker, more challenging turn here, and exclusives like “A Mechanical Sky” get their impact from a mix of slippery repetition and cold ambience.

There’s a lot of ace club material from others like Artefakt and Planetary Assault Systems. But taken in with the haunting Avery closer “Space Echo,” it all proves that his ear for melancholy might be just as strong as it is for the club floor. He plays a late shift for Prototype, with Jimmy Edgar and Silent Servant, at Lot 613 Friday.

Friday’s also a bittersweet night at Fine Time, as co-founder Tahl Klainman is amicably parting to pursue new ventures. It should be a rousing soundoff, however, with a strong bill from the Lobster Theremin label including rising acts Route 8, Asquith and the Discwoman favorite Volvox. And for those truly looking to extend a middle finger to the potential rollbacks of queer rights, Ostbahnhof is pulling out all the stops.

On Saturday, fresh off her lively turn with Robyn at FYF, the techno-political radical the Black Madonna tries to keep spirits up with Mike Servito and Spotlight’s Chris Cruse at Lot 613. If there’s any way to feel more upbeat about life in the late hours right now, she’ll find it.

But if you’re feeling more like you just want to go to bed and wake up in a different world, a wide range of Dublab regulars (Jimmy Tamborello, Frosty, Victoria O’Hanlon, Sage Caswell) are teaming up for Tonalism, an ambient music showcase where falling asleep is actively encouraged — seriously, bring sleeping bags.
