Florence + the Machine set tour, Hollywood Bowl dates

Florence + the Machine had one of the best performances at this year’s Coachella, even if it did cost Florence Welch the use of a foot for one weekend.

Apparently she is much better now, as the regal pop act has announced a two-night stand at the Hollywood Bowl this fall.

We’ll miss her impromptu crooning with Father John Misty, but we’re just as happy to have her back at full speed. Florence + the Machine will stop by the Bowl on Oct. 16-17, with tickets going on sale June 13. The tour’s monthlong run also includes stops at Austin City Limits, the Santa Barbara Bowl and Berkeley’s Greek Theater.

The dates come in support of her new album “How Big How Blue How Beautiful,” a more minimalist and live-band-sounding record that’s already added some staple singles (“What Kind of Man,” “Ship To Wreck”) to her catalog. She recorded the album with favored Arcade Fire and Mumford & Sons producer Markus Dravs and Adele producer Paul Epworth.

“I feel like there aren’t any tricks on it,” she said to The Times in a recent profile. “I was like, ‘Don’t we need more reverb? Can’t we have more backing vocals?’”

A voice as big as hers doesn’t need much by way of disguise or effect, and if her opening weekend performance at Coachella is any indication, she’s taking the new clarity of this sound as an invitation to have an even bigger stage presence herself.
