Unlike Coachella, Bonnaroo doesn’t have an iconically typefaced poster to herald its acts every year. But this year, the Tennessee festival has a throwback means of announcing its lineup -- a toll-free call line.

On Tuesday afternoon, the festival invited fans to call a phone number to learn the name of one individual act performing. Instead of a single statement of its artists, the fest is asking fans to trickle out lineup information across social media.

The top of the bill confirms that this is the year that Dad Rock took over American music festivals: Billy Joel and Robert Plant are two of the main headliners, along with Ben Harper, Mumford & Sons, War on Drugs, Kendrick Lamar and Deadmau5.

Other acts confirmed range from Slayer to Against Me! as well as Sturgill Simpson, Run the Jewels and Tears for Fears. The festival website is, helpfully, collecting fans’ posts confirming various acts.

Was yesterday’s slow-and-steady lineup reveal a charmingly populist and participatory stunt? Or the most grating means of drip-dropping information since the Grammy nominees announcement?

Either way, even if you plan on spending a week in the mud out at Bonnaroo, it all was enough to make you miss the clarity reading of a big ‘ol AC/DC logo on a poster.
