The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame will salute the Everly Brothers at the institution’s annual Music Masters tribute concert on Oct. 25. An all-star affair that will be emceed by singer-songwriter Rodney Crowell, the event will feature performances by Emmylou Harris, Vince Gill, Graham Nash, the Secret Sisters, Peter Asher, Shelby Lynne and other artists still to be confirmed.

Don and Phil Everly were among the original 10 artists inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame upon the hall’s formal opening in 1986 for their long string of hits built around their seamless sibling harmonies, among them “Cathy’s Clown,” “When Will I Be Loved,” “Bye Bye Love” and “Wake Up Little Susie.”

Phil Everly died in January at 74 of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, which his wife attributed to a genetic predisposition exacerbated by his many years of cigarette smoking. (The COPD Foundation has established a memorial fund in Phil Everly’s name.)

Guitarist Albert Lee, who performed with the Everlys during their lauded 1983 reunion concert in London, will be musical director of the house band for the Rock Hall of Fame tribute, which will cap a week of events, seminars, panels and other presentations on the duo’s influence on popular music. Speakers at various events will include Crowell, country music historian and author Colin Escott, filmmaker Joe Lauro and former L.A. Times pop music critic Ann Powers.

The Rock Hall of Fame show is being described as “the first major tribute in which the family will participate since Phil’s passing,” although Everly’s widow, Patti, attended the rapidly assembled salute to her late husband on the eve of the Grammy Awards during the Americana Music Assn.’s annual pre-Grammy gathering at the Troubadour in West Hollywood.

For that show, Crowell was joined by Bonnie Raitt, Ry Cooder, Joe Henry, Jim Lauderdale, the Haden Triplets, Jim Lauderdale, the Milk Carton Kids and others.

Tickets will cost $30 to $100 and will be available exclusively to Rock and Roll Hall of Fame members starting Sept. 10, and then to the general public starting Sept. 12. Information is available at the hall’s website, https://tickets.rockhall.com.
