Lamb of God’s Randy Blythe released on bail

For the last five weeks, Lamb of God’s singer Randy Blythe has been detained in Prague, Czech Republic, on manslaughter charges stemming from a 2010 incident where he allegedly threw a charging fan offstage while performing. According to a statement from band representatives, he’s now been released on bail, and will return to the U.S.

The official charges of “bodily harm of 4th degree and resulting in the death of a fan” could carry a maximum prison term of 10 years. Blythe’s detainment meant the band had to cancel a planned tour with the cartoon-metal ensemble Dethklok. The band will reportedly play two planned August sets in Iowa and Wisconsin for the traveling Knotfest tour.

The band is planning a full U.S. tour for late October, and Blythe will reportedly release his first official comment on his imprisonment in a statement next week.

The band’s publicist Maria Ferrero previously said in an email statement that “This incident deals with a fan that three times during the concert jumped the barricade and rushed Randy during the performance. It is alleged that the third time, security was not able to reach him and that Randy pushed him back into the audience where supposedly he fell and hit his head. Again, until the investigation is concluded this weekend, nothing more will be released, but clarity and the facts needed to be addressed on this one reported point which is totally inaccurate.”
