It’s clear now what the long and winding road of the American music festival scene was leading to.

Old-guy headliners for everyone!

Paul McCartney will top the bill at this year’s Lollapalooza in Chicago, organizers announced Wednesday, just a day after San Francisco’s Outside Lands said Elton John will be its latest star attraction.

And don’t forget that these bookings follow the news that Coachella will bring AC/DC and Steely Dan to the Empire Polo Club in Indio next month.

Remember when these shows were for the young? (Me either.)

Set to run July 31 to Aug. 2 at Chicago’s Grant Park, Lollapalooza will also feature Metallica, along with some non-old-guy acts including Florence & the Machine, Sam Smith, the Weeknd, Alabama Shakes, ASAP Rocky and Marina the Diamonds.

Outside Lands, scheduled for Aug. 7-9 at Golden Gate Park, will complement John with Kendrick Lamar and D’Angelo, as well as a handful of relatively youthful guys pretending to be old guys in the Black Keys, Wilco and Mumford & Sons.

The 2015 festival season unofficially kicks off April 10 with the first of Coachella’s two weekends. Beyond AC/DC and Steely Dan, it will have Drake, Jack White, David Guetta, St. Vincent and many more.
