New single from Psy due out next month

He’s baa-aack.

Not long after his “Gangnam Style” video became the first on YouTube to be viewed 1 billion times, Psy revealed Friday that he’s set to release a follow-up single on April 13. The Korean pop star made the announcement in -- what else? -- a YouTube clip in which he also said he’ll perform a concert the same day at Seoul’s World Cup Stadium. (Watch the video below.)

Although “Gangnam Style” seems to have been supplanted to some degree by Baauer’s “Harlem Shake,” the viral hit is still doing relatively big business: On Saturday afternoon it sat at No. 51 on iTunes’ singles chart (ahead of Adele’s Oscar-boosted “Skyfall” and “Beauty and a Beat” by Justin Bieber), while the clip’s YouTube total was closing in on 1.4 billion views.

That’s roughly a half-billion more than the video site’s second-most-viewed clip, Bieber’s “Baby.”

Earlier this week Psy released a “Gangnam Style” remix EP with new versions of the song from Diplo and Afrojack. And on Saturday he performed at the Future Music Festival in Sydney on a bill that also included crunk kingpin Lil Jon and L.A.-based Steve Aoki.
